Toyota Built a Gaming Chair That Could Cost More Than Your Entire Setup

Gaming chairs are already known for their extravagant appearance, large size, and high cost. However, Toyota has now contributed to this conversation as they have unveiled a futuristic concept Toyota gaming chair that resembles something seen in high-end sports cars instead of a regular gaming setup.

Toyota has recently revealed their high-tech immersive gaming cockpit based on their own automotive design and racing technology; this is not your typical gaming chair.

A Gaming Chair Inspired by Sports Cars

Toyota’s concept gaming chair captures the spirit of motorsports with their own unique take on racing and performance vehicle interior design. In other words, there is much more than just a seat with RGB lights; what makes this chair unique are the following:

  • Racing-styled seating
  • Immersive cockpit design
  • Advanced motion capabilities
  • Integrated controls
  • Futuristic lighting and display capabilities

So, rather than feeling like you’re sitting in a traditional gaming chair, you would feel like you’re sitting in a professional simulator designed for racing

More Than Just a Chair

The main difference between a traditional gaming setup and the Toyota gaming chair/system is :

  1. It was designed to be a complete gaming experience instead of just being considered as furniture.
  2. The design of this new system/game chair emphasizes immersion by merging automotive engineering
  3. And gaming industry concepts, so players can experience as if they were actually sitting in the driver’s seat of a futuristic racing simulator.

In addition, it is said that the Toyota gaming chair/system provides motion feedback and interactive controls for a more accurate driving and gaming experience.

What brings together two disparate concepts such as automotive and gaming into one company?

Because of the rapid progression and evolution of both cultures & how the two are becoming more intermingled.

Modern racing games, e-sports tournaments, and simulation setups provide the car brands with an opportunity to target:

  • the younger generation (ages 13-35).
  • As well as gamers in general.

Companies like Toyota view gaming as a logical evolution from motorsport and digital media.

Additionally, automakers can use video games to demonstrate futuristic technologies, as well as create real-time connections to their respective online communities.

Automakers understand that it is a smart move to leverage the popularity of video games to engage with their target audience.

It Could Be Extremely Pricey

Though Toyota has not marketed its chair for the general public yet, it’s easy to tell from the pictures that it will cost a lot to create this type of simulator chair.

Just from the setup alone, there are already jokes being made online saying that it probably costs more than a full gaming computer.

Considering that there is a premium automotive-inspired design/advanced simulator-style technology.

There is no doubt that Toyota would pack a hefty price tag onto the chair if they ever introduce it to the gaming public.

For example, high-quality racing simulators already sell for 2 or 3 thousand dollars without the premium automotive branding.

The Emergence of Luxury Gaming Type Setups

Gaming isn’t viewed as a niche or hobby anymore. As gaming continues to develop, high-end gaming accessories and furniture are being sold more frequently.

The luxury gaming space consists of:

  • Racing simulators
  • Motion platforms
  • High-end chairs
  • Curved Ultra Wide screens
  • RGB backlit setups
  • Premium audio systems.

Toyota’s concept fits in perfectly.

Not Everyone Is Convinced

Some consumers are still not sure about the concept being proposed by Toyota. Those who are not fond of it see it as just one more example of gaming companies.

Complicating their products like other types of products, with at least unnecessary luxury features.

Others have joked about how almost all consumers would feel fine using an “average” gaming chair.

And a solid quality computer screen instead of a gaming cockpit that looks like a car.

Some speculate that, because of how much the new chair has captured consumers’ attention.

This was a major part of its design objective!

Winding Down

Toyota’s futuristic gaming chair concept illustrates how gaming, automotive technology, and entertainment culture are continuing to merge together.

If this product is eventually released, it may have a retail price greater than that of other gaming systems located next to it.
